He restored it all back to the way it was too, sort of, and I’m pretty sure there wasn’t a huge monster in Manhattan before. Although I have to say Manhattan makes more sense than Tadfield...But still! He wouldn’t do this...so why is this happening?

How did I get here for that matter?

[IC Information]
Character Name: Aziraphale
Series: Good Omens
Gender: All angels are sexless unless they really want to make an effort and it hasn’t been indicated Aziraphale has made such an effort.
Age: Around 6000 years.
Species: Angel from Heaven
Sexuality: Although one of the first impressions Aziraphale tends to make on people is that he’s ‘gayer than a tree full of monkeys on nitrous oxide’ there’s the whole being sexless issue that kind of cancels it out.

Appearance: Aziraphale is given very little physical description in the book. The thing we get to know most about are his hands. Which are ‘exquisitely manicured’ and plump. Furthermore he wears a coat and a tie. That’s about all we get to know. We can assume these to be a bit old-fashioned considering the only times when Aziraphale manages to get his mind into the twentieth century it always gravitates to 1950 and the fact he finds tartan stylish.

Fans usually draw Aziraphale with short wavy blond hair, blue eyes and, although it has never been stated in the book that he wears them, glasses. When Aziraphale takes on his true shape, he reveals his wings.

Personality: Being an angel naturally means Aziraphale is good and he can never resist the opportunity to do good either. Although he’s affable and courteous it doesn’t necessarily mean he’s nice. (As Crowley describes it: “deep down inside, you were just enough of a bastard to be worth liking.”) Of course he cares about all living things and he does believe in the goodness within human hearts, it’s his job to do so, but he gets careless every now and then or even caught up in his own business so much he’s blind to the things happening around him. The thing that is most admirable about Aziraphale is his strong sense of loyalty.

Aziraphale’s also a huge Bibliophile and also quite intelligent having an angelic intelligence, which isn’t actually higher than that of a human, but just broader and has thousands of years of practice.

Shortly put; Aziraphale is an angel that doesn’t always show the behaviour one might expect from an angel, such as drinking and having a demon as his only friend, but he’s a genuine angel nonetheless.

Abilities: In the book Aziraphale is described as having many powers which, at the lack of a better word, are pretty much godlike. From turning objects into different objects, healing, making someone disappear and reappear somewhere else to randomly making stuff combust among other things. In Manhattan he will be stripped from all of his powers expect for his healing ability. He’ll be able to heal and cure crab bites, but he won’t be able to resurrect someone. He can only heal others in Manhattan when he assumes his true shape (meaning he also keeps the ability to furl and unfurl his wings).

Weaknesses: As described before Aziraphale can get careless or wrapped up into his own little world too much. He can also be loyal to a fault. And although he may be an angel, his body is human and can be killed as easily as any average person’s can.

Manhattanite or outsider? Outsider.

History: Aziraphale has 6000 years full of history, sadly we don’t get to know much about it. What we do know is that he was there from the very beginning as the angel of the Eastern Gate of Eden together with his demon counterpart and enemy Crowley, who was then known as Crawly and had the form of the serpent who tempted Eve.The two seemed to have stuck together throughout the history thwarting each other and at some point realizing they actually had a lot in common and so came to an Arrangement.

The Arrangement is described as “very simple, so simple in fact that it didn't really deserve the capital letter, which it had got for simply being in existence for so long. It was the sort of sensible arrangement that many isolated agents, working in awkward conditions a long way from their superiors, reach with their opposite number when they realize that they have far more in common with their immediate opponents than their remote allies. It meant a tacit non-interference in certain of each other's activities. It made certain that while neither really won, also neither really lost, and both were able to demonstrate to their masters the great strides they were making against a cunning and well-informed adversary.”

Aziraphale had made himself at home in Soho, London, where he owns a dingy old bookshop that isn’t actually a shop but more a place to store his books. In recent events Aziraphale and Crowley were attempting to stop the Armageddon from happening as both rather liked the world and didn’t want it to end, and succeeded. Although it was really Adam Young, the antichrist, who did it. Things were just settling down again when Aziraphale suddenly finds himself in Manhattan.
